Katherine Pierce
Partner & Head of Wealth Planning
Katherine Pierce joined Sinclair & Voss in 2005 and has spent the past two decades building one of the most respected wealth planning practices in the Charlotte area. Her dual background in law and financial planning gives her a rare ability to see client situations from multiple angles simultaneously—understanding not just the numbers, but the legal structures, family dynamics, and long-term intentions that shape every meaningful planning decision.
Before joining Sinclair & Voss, Katherine practiced estate and trust law for six years at a prominent Charlotte firm, where she advised high-net-worth families on complex estate plans, generation-skipping trusts, and philanthropic structures. That legal foundation remains an essential part of her work today. While she no longer practices law, her understanding of trust and estate law allows her to collaborate effectively with clients’ attorneys and ensure that planning strategies are implemented correctly across disciplines.
Katherine earned her Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Virginia. She earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2007, and considers the integration of legal knowledge and financial planning to be the most valuable skill she brings to her clients.
Her approach to wealth planning starts with listening. She has found over 20 years of practice that the most important planning conversations are often the most personal—questions about what clients want their wealth to accomplish, how they think about family responsibility, and what legacy means to them in concrete terms. Only after those conversations does the technical work begin.
Katherine is particularly experienced in multigenerational planning engagements, where she works with both the wealth creators and the next generation to ensure that transfers are structured thoughtfully, that heirs are prepared for the responsibility of significant wealth, and that family values are reflected in the plan. She also leads the firm’s charitable planning work, helping clients design giving strategies that align with their philanthropic goals and their tax situation.
She serves on the board of the Women’s Impact Fund of Charlotte and is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Charlotte. Katherine and her husband live in Dilworth with their two children.
